Op. 25
The lotus-flower fears
The sun’s splendour,
And with bowed head,
Dreaming, awaits the night.
The moon is her lover,
And wakes her with his light,
And to him she tenderly unveils
Her innocent flower-like face.
She blooms and glows and gleams,
And gazes silently aloft—
Fragrant and weeping and trembling
With love and the pain of love.

Citrus aurantium. This creation features a tincture of an ancient variety (Citrus aurantium var. canaliculata), cultivated in the garden of a Benedictine monastery in Tuscany; its ribbed fruits are fragrant, precious jewels. It also contains an essential oil distilled from Citrus aurantium var. corniculata. The bitter, waxy depth of these remarkable varieties blends seamlessly with the green, gently aquatic and powdery harmony of this composition. Bitter orange strengthens the heart and brings sacred vitality.
Papua oudAround 40 g of wild oud from Indonesia. A singular oil, devoid of animalic and earthy facets, yet rich in green, humid nuances; now floral, now mint-like. Elegantly refined, like the thin layer of fertile mud from which luminous water lilies and discreet lotus blossoms emerge. Powerful and sweet, especially alongside the roasted chestnut absolute found within this composition. It harmonises and seduces.
VetiverVetiveria zizanioides. The binding thread of the project, it unites the vegetal and spicy facets of the other ingredients, like a red thread, settling them upon a delicate layer of clay-rich earth. It is thus a journey into a lush pond, strewn with cerulean and rose-coloured meteors. Here it is present as a hydrodistillate from wild plants in India and from the island of Java.
