Ortica Ortica
"Tall nettles cover up, as they have done
These many springs, the rusty harrow, the plough
Long worn out, and the roller made of stone:
Only the elm butt tops the nettles now.
This corner of the farmyard I like most:
As well as any bloom upon a flower
I like the dust on the nettles, never lost
Except to prove the sweetness of a shower."

“A sweet perfume? A green one? When?”
You’ve been asking for years. So I put both in the same bottle.
I’m not really drawn to green notes — except for nettle, for that damp, breathing sensation it carries. It’s intimidating, sure. But to me it’s the path behind my house, ravioli filling, a quiet constant. I picked it myself and turned it into a clear, glowing tincture.
An old memory resurfaced: Lokoloko by Ensar Oud. Its deep, oily vegetal facets met the stony, earthy edge of wild nettle and fell into place. Vanilla and cherry followed to close the circle — sweetness and crunch wrapped around a forest-floor heart, fruity, faintly medicinal.
I let it rest.
What came out is sweet, enveloping, unmistakably Zanini — but with a sharp green flicker at the top.
Subtle and fleeting, yet deeply sensual. Its tart sweetness is the thread that holds the composition together, bridging the green facets of galbanum and fig leaf with the more floral, almost rose-like tones of geranium. The fruit of Venus, a symbol of transience and renewal. Here it appears as a tincture from fresh, ripe fruit, later made into an absolute.
VanillaIt brings added sweetness, enriching the base and enhancing the fluidity of Ensar Oud’s attar. It also introduces a gentle balsamic note which, paired with Peru balsam, gives the composition greater depth. A comfort, a soft and gentle touch.
